Welcome to a new segment in our blog, where we (hopefully) keep you updated on all the things we've been working on at The Alternative Store!
First up, we've been working on a new Sheffield/Northern design to add to our Sheffield T Shirt range! It's a bit of a different one, with a couple of variations, but overall you can expect it to slot nicely into our current Sheffield T Shirt range. We fully cannot wait to show you guys!
You might have seen, we released our new Frog T Shirt this month, to accompany our Duck T Shirt. We're absolutely buzzing with the reception its got, so thanks very much! (Frog T Shirt)
We're also currently starting work on our website overhaul. It's a bit of a process, but the aim is to increase the ease of use, functionality and accessibility for you guys, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Finally, we're also working (slowly but surely) towards opening our upstairs room for you all. It's a bit of a nightmare for a few reasons, primarily that it feels like as soon as we clear the room it fills up again, but we'll get there. It'll contain all the vintage bits you see in the back corner of the Store, but a full rooms worth!
Tune of the week: Spyres - Lost without you.
Scottish four piece Spyres hail from Glasgow, a city that much like Sheffield, feels like it keeps on churning out fantastic bands and musicians. The back to back and overlapping vocals of Emily and Keira sound great and are a consistent to their tunes. With a fast pace, punchy drums and catchy melodies, this is just an all around great tune.
Honorary mention #1: VEN - H8 Lovin
VEN is the name of Kieran Shudall's (Frontman of Circa Waves) solo project. He started VEN in lockdown, which shows as it is very different from his Circa Waves writing. Regardless, it has a great sound, relaxing yet thought provoking within the lyrics.
Honorary mention #2: Souls of Mischief - '93 Til Infinity
As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, it would be rude not to mention the tune that inspired our 30th anniversary T Shirt. This is just a classic tune, one which we play regularly in the Store, banger.
